The new year is a time for new beginnings, and many of us will spend January planning how to make our lives better in 2019. But for the 40-50 million individuals in the U.S. living below the poverty line, this sort of fresh start can seem like an impossible dream.
During the holiday season, many Americans open their hearts and their pocketbooks to those in need. Yet when the new year begins, this charitable giving often drops off – even though those struggling to build a better life need as much support as ever.
That’s why January is designated “National Poverty Awareness Month” – and why we at Stand Together Foundation are ringing in the new year with a series of new partner investments. We’re working with our Catalysts to support their creative vision and expand their efforts this year, putting an entrepreneurial mindset to work helping the most vulnerable in their communities break free of the cycle of poverty.
These investments will benefit Catalysts across all six of our issue-related portfolios: Addiction and Mental Health; Financial Empowerment and Entrepreneurship; Housing and Homelessness; In-prison, Re-entry and Second Chances; Workforce Development; and Youth Education. We’re delighted to be able to come alongside these organizations, assisting them as they undertake critical work in their communities.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing each of these portfolio investments, and you’ll be able to get a glimpse of who these incredible community leaders are and what they’re doing to change lives across the country. Stay tuned by following us on our Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
